BATA
Building Adults Through Awareness
The BATA Program is a self-esteem building project designed to reduce drug use, violence and other non-constructive behavior among Filipino youth and to promote positive personal development through Filipino cultural grounding and positive self-image. Its purpose is to encourage realistic goals and choices through interactive educational workshops, group discussions, field trips and recreational activities. Students are encouraged to voice their own thoughts and feeling about issues that affect their lives. Filipino Advocates for Justice offers BATA services at two Union City schools: James Logan High School and Alvarado Middle School.
