AYPAL

Asian Pacific Islander Youth Promoting Advocacy and Leadership

AYPAL at Oakland City Hall

AYPAL is a collaborative project of 6 API organizations whose mission is to change the relationship of power between youth and policy makers through direct action organizing campaigns and arts activism. AYPAL is also a safe place where youth can get together to talk about common issues, make positive friendships, learn about their culture and history and build community with conscious and caring adults. Past campaigns include getting ethnic studies in schools, fighting against deportation, and working for education reform. Past arts projects include martial arts, guerilla theater, dance, and open space for young people to explore our strong Pilipino history of resistance. To learn more about the AYPAL program, visit its website at www.aypal.org. If you’d like to get involved or attend a weekly meeting, call Jean Tolentino (510) 465-9876 x310 or email her at jtolentino [at] filipinos4justice.org.
